LATTC Fourth Fridays Training is a training series that takes place the fourth Friday of every month between 1pm-3pm for Administrative Services. Training topics include creating forms, creating accessible documents, and others.
Student Success also holds a series of 4th Friday events from 12:30-1:30pm related to student success topics.
Academic Technology provides training on various academic technology such as Canvas, Moodle, clickers, ePortfolios, iPad use, creating reusable learning objects, smart classroom use, media cart use and iTunes U content creation.
California Community Colleges Professional Learning Network is a one-stop site with professional development resources, online training, speakers directory, calendar of events, and more. It is free for community college employees. Through the Professional Learning Network (PLN), you can complete training videos offered through Grovo and Lynda.com. Both Grovo and Lynda.com offer online content on a variety of topics related to staff, student, and instructional improvement. You receive a certificate of completion for training and courses completed. In order to access Grovo and Lynda.com, you will need to register for a free account with PLN. You can afterwards log in to PLN, and go to the “Learning” tab to visit the Learn Academy page. From there, select either Grovo or Lynda.com to begin.
District Academic Senate Professional Development College
The
District Academic Senate Professional Development College (PDC) is designed to improve and/or develop competencies of current and future community college instructors. This program offers skill sets that are important for meaningful and effective teaching and learning. The PDC has been offering a series of seminars beginning Winter 2016. (Note: These credit courses may be used for pay column advancement.) The
PDC is composed of five tiers, each containing 1-3 stackable courses that lead to a certificate. All courses are degree-applicable and CSU transferable.
